What If Chad Gable Wins WWE Worlds Collide & El Grande Americano Wins MITB?

Kayfabe is a beautiful thing. Despite the growing intrusion of social media commentary from fans and analysts alike, kayfabe continues to put the entertainment in sports entertainment and suspend our disbelief. The duality of Chad Gable and El Grande Americano presents a fascinating dilemma for both kayfabe guardians and the more modern, realist demographics. This weekend poses a historic and incredibly influential pair of PLEs. WWE Worlds Collide will be the first WWE and AAA collaborative PLE since WWE acquired the lucha libre promotion earlier this year.

Following that will be WWE’s Money in the Bank PLE. Both events will take place back-to-back in Los Angeles, but at different arenas.

Whatever side of the fence you sit on, most fans can agree that Chad Gable and El Grande Americano’s striking resemblances are not merely coincidental. Supposed Mexican wrestling legend El Grande is Gable disguised as a Luchador.

While he has done well so far to juggle the two characters and prevent El Grande from being unmasked, the schedule for Worlds Collide and Money in the Bank presents a potential banana peel for Master Gable. That being said, it’s also a fantastic opportunity for Gable to make history.

At Worlds Collide, Gable will face newly-crowned AAA Mega Champion El Hijo Del Vikingo for the title. A few hours later, El Grande will compete against five other superstars in a ladder match for the MITB contract. If Gable wins, he’ll make history as the first WWE superstar to capture an AAA title since the new partnership was confirmed.

Should El Grande win Money in the Bank, he’ll technically become the first Luchador to capture the briefcase. Furthermore, it provides myriad creative opportunities for Gable (and El Grande) moving forward. Assuming they both emerge victorious.

What if Chad Gable Wins the AAA Mega Championship?

Chad Gable is one of WWE’s best wrestlers to have not held a singles championship. A major title win would immediately elevate him to top-tier status. This would be beneficial for both WWE and AAA, as Gable would be expected to defend his title at both companies.

And with the hatred that Gable’s dual personas have created, especially from legitimate Luchadors, it could present some interesting matchups with Lucha stars from both WWE and AAA.

A Gable victory would also solidify the ‘worlds collide’ concept. It would show that both companies are willing to allow their titles to crossover. And this would, of course, mean that an AAA superstar could credibly win a WWE championship at some point. Not to mention, there would be the prospect of a long-term rivalry between Gable and Vikingo.

Both are exciting performers in their own right, making for a standout rivalry in 2025.

Having a MITB briefcase holder with a secret identity would be a first for WWE. And knowing the hatred toward the El Grande persona from other superstars, it would add an extra layer to this year’s MITB narrative. It wouldn’t be just the champions looking over their shoulders. El Grande would also expect his cash-in attempts to be jeopardised.

As a supposedly Mexican-born Luchador, an El Grande Americano with the briefcase in tow could look to cash in at an AAA event. Assume for the moment that Gable has lost to Vikingo. Locked into a long-term rivalry, El Grande could conceivably cash in on Vikingo to exact revenge. Again, a historic first cross-promotional cash-in would be a great to emphasize the ‘worlds collide’ concept.

What if Gable Wins at Worlds Collide and El Grande Wins at Mitb?

It’s an outrageous concept, but one that’s entirely possible. And while fans won’t bet on that happening, WWE have structured the weekend’s events in a way to make it possible. So, as fans, we can’t rule it out. And it presents a multitude of opportunities for Gable, as well as underlining WWE’s faith in him.

A quick cash-in is also possible. WWE’s world champions face off in a tag-team match at MITB, meaning that one or both champions could be severely depleted come the end of that bout. If El Grande cashes in on an exhausted champion at MITB, Gable/El Grande could become a historic double world champion over one day.

However, if El Grande chooses to be patient with his cash-in, it will provide Gable with unprecedented power across WWE and AAA. A world champion with a MITB briefcase would be an incredible sight to behold. And for fans, working out when El Grande could cash in will provide an exhilarating theoretical minefield. Splitting his time between both companies, it’ll be more difficult than usual to figure out when he could cash in.

What Does This Mean for the Inevitable Reveal of Chad Gable?

The ruse of El Grande Americano will come to an end at some point. And the AAA Mega title or a MITB cash-in could be the catalyst for it. Sadly, it could be a double or triple whammy for Gable. There is the possibility that a rival’s forced unmasking could ruin El Grande’s cash-in. And with El Grande’s secret identity revealed, WWE creative could punish Gable by stripping him of his AAA title.

Whatever happens this weekend, a title win, a MITB win, or both, it’s going to elevate Gable. The storyline continues to intrigue fans, and there’s a brilliant opportunity here to take it to an unprecedented level.

Whether Gable’s identity is unveiled by force or on his terms, the reveal will be memorable. Should Gable opt to reveal himself after a successful cash-in as El Grande, it could lead to another persona shift.

Having angered WWE creative with his dual persona, his ego amplified by double champion status, Gable could repackage himself as an anti-establishment tweener above the power of WWE. It would be a fitting end, satisfying both kayfabe purists and the realists.

A conclusion rooted in fiction and reality that amplifies the immense qualities of the unsung Chad Gable.
