MANILA — Filipinos delivered an upset in the country’s midterm elections on Monday, backing the family of detained former President Rodrigo Duterte in much greater numbers than expected in the key race for Senate seats.
The results, which are still partial and unofficial, suggest the outcome of the looming impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, Rodrigo’s daughter, remains far from certain, dealing a blow to her political foe, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
