COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Meredith Gaudreau, widow of late hockey star Johnny Gaudreau, announced the birth of the couple’s third baby — a son named Carter Michael Gaudreau who shares his father’s middle name.
According to an Instagram post, Carter was born on April 1 weighing 8 lbs., 3 oz., and measuring 20.5 inches—the same weight and measurements as his father when he was born.
Thousands of fans are now offering messages of support and well-wishes on Meredith’s Instagram page.
Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew died after they were hit by a suspected drunk driver while riding bicycles on Aug. 29, the night before their sister’s wedding in New Jersey.
Gaudreau spent two years playing left wing for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Johnny and Meredith are also parents to daughter Noa, 2, and son Johnny, who is 1.
