Pamela Dietrich of Linden was Michigan’s first million-dollar winner in the revamped Mega Millions game.
LINDEN, Mich. (WJRT) – A Genesee County woman hit it big by winning $3 million in the Michigan Lottery’s Mega Millions game.
Pamela Dietrich of Linden decided to play on a whim and purchased her ticket online, according to Lottery officials.
“I don’t consistently play Mega Millions, but I do play from time to time,” Dietrich said.
She was skeptical when she received an email about her winnings.
“I had a hard time believing it when I saw I had won $3 million,” Dietrich said. “I called the Lottery first thing Monday morning to verify that it was real and schedule an appointment to claim my big prize.”
Dietrich matched the five white balls in the April 11 drawing, which initially won her $1 million. Thanks to the multiplier, her prize increased to $3 million.
Dietrich plans to use her winnings to remodel her home, pay off her vehicle and save the rest.
