LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Jefferson County Public Schools students are learning remotely for the third consecutive day Wednesday while hundreds of bus stops around Louisville remain under water.
Days of heavy rain last week flooded the Ohio River, its tributaries and many low-lying areas of the city, impacting thousands of students at more than 60 JCPS schools. But a JCPS spokesperson said the school buildings haven’t seen major issues from the flooding.
Wednesday is the district’s eighth day of nontraditional instruction of the 2024-25 school year — days that don’t need to be made up before the end of the school year. That means there is no change to the school calendar right now until JCPS gets to the 11th NTI day of the year.
Bullitt County Public Schools. Officials also said they don’t have damaged school buildings, but several roads are flooded. The American Red Cross is currently using Lebanon Junction Elementary School as a shelter.
