Fireworks shows in greater Gardner or beyond

If you’re a fan of fireworks, you’re in luck. This is the time of year when you can find them nearly every weekend, both close by and others if you’re willing to travel.

Fortunately, you don’t even have to leave the city for the first round of fireworks. The Polish American Citizen Club will be hosting an all-day family celebration with fireworks at 10 p.m.

This year, Independence Day is on Friday, July 4. Still, in case you can’t catch fireworks during a local Independence Day celebration, there are many other opportunities to see spectacular displays this summer. All the listed fireworks displays are part of festivals and community celebrations, featuring outdoor games, live music, and food trucks.

Here is a list of community events where and when you can see the sky light up as you say “Oooh” and “Aaah.”

Fourth of July celebrations

In Pepperell, at the field of Varnum Brook Elementary School, a Fourth of July celebration on Saturday, June 28, will begin at 6 p.m. and conclude with a fireworks show at dusk, featuring live music, food trucks, and an inflatable playground.

On Thursday, July 3, a fireworks display will be launched at 9:20 p.m. behind the ballpark in Marsh Field, located at 17 Pommogusset Road in Rutland, which is a 30-minute drive from Gardner with light traffic. This is the town’s 77th annual Independence Day community event, a two-weekend celebration held on Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June 29, and then on Thursday, July 3, and finally on Friday, July 4.

Fireworks will be launched from the Quarry at Rollstone Hill in Fitchburg on Wednesday, July 3, starting at 9:30 p.m. Spectators can access the display from Pratt Road.

A 45-minute drive away, in Greenfield, the United States will celebrate Independence Day with a fireworks display at Beacon Field on Saturday, July 5. The celebration starts at 5 p.m. with live music, and then at 9:35 p.m., fireworks will be launched. The rain date for the event is the following day, Sunday, July 6.

Fireworks all summer long

On Saturday, June 21, at Kendall Pond in Gardner, the Polish American Citizen Club will host an all-day community event, starting at 1 p.m. and ending at 10 p.m. with a fireworks show. Throughout the day, food trucks, local vendors, a cornhole tournament, and live music will be offered.
