One of the great rivalries in all of sports will write a new chapter Friday night when the Yankees host the Red Sox.
This is the first meeting of the 2025 season between the bitter foes, and will be the first time that Walker Buehler takes part in the rivalry as a member of the Red Sox.
The Yankees turn to Will Warren following his disappointing outing against the Dodgers.

What our Post expert thinks about Yankees vs. Red Sox
The baseball season is all about managing the peaks and valleys and, right now, it seems like Boston needs to snap out of a funk.
The Red Sox have just three wins in their last 10 games and trail the Bronx Bombers by 9 1/2 games in the AL East.
Boston could be in big trouble if it doesn’t close the gap with a couple of wins in this series.

David Beckham will be awarded a knighthood next week as part of King Charles’s birthday celebrations, according to reports.
Beckham has been in line for a knighthood for more than a decade after playing more than 100 times for England and becoming well known for his charity work, much of which is focused on improving the lives of underprivileged children.
Beckham, 50, will be named in King Charles III’s birthday honours list and will take the title of sir. His wife, Victoria Beckham, the fashion designer and former Spice Girls member, will take the name Lady Beckham, according to the Sun.
The couple have appeared alongside the royals on public occasions, most recently at the Chelsea flower show last month where they were pictured alongside Charles and Queen Camilla. In February the Beckhams attended a dinner to promote Anglo-Italian relations at Highgrove, King Charles’s private home in Gloucestershire.
Beckham, who captained the England team for six years, is an official ambassador for the King’s Foundation, supporting its education programmes and “efforts to ensure young people have a greater understanding of nature”, according to his website.
The former footballer turned model has spoken about his love of nature in recent years, revealing his passion for beekeeping on the couple’s Cotswolds estate near Great Tew in Oxfordshire, in a Netflix documentary about his family.
Beckham received an OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 2003 and was said to have been first put forward for a knighthood in 2011, after helping London win its bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games. However, he was blocked from receiving a title after being implicated in a tax avoidance scheme, which he was cleared of four years ago.

Beckham was one of 140 celebrities allegedly caught up in the 2013 Ingenious tax avoidance scheme, which resulted in the company being blacklisted. Sources close to Beckham at the time reportedly said the former footballer had no knowledge of the scheme; Ingenious was successful in appealing against HMRC in 2021.
Beckham has been a Unicef special ambassador for 20 years and this year collected the World Economic Forum crystal award – given to people who have used their art or other cultural work to improve the state of the world – for work on children’s rights.
In his acceptance speech he urged Davos attenders to fight for the rights of girls, saying he wanted his now 13-year-old daughter, Harper, to have the same opportunities as her three brothers.
He added that girls particularly were being held back by poverty, violence and discrimination. “They need opportunities. They need collective action and they need investment,” he said.
In May it emerged that Beckham was part of a nine-member consortium taking over the football club Salford City, alongside his former Manchester United teammate Gary Neville. Beckham said their ambition was to take the League Two team into the Premier League.
“I always dream big so I’m always going to want us to get to the pinnacle of football and be in the Premier League,” he told the Athletic. “But there’s a lot of hard work and a lot of investment to be done up until that point.”
David Beckham is set to be awarded a knighthood in King Charles’ Birthday Honours.
The former England football captain, 50, was appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2003.
But BBC Sport has been told he is now in line to receive further recognition for both his football career, and his contributions to British society, with the list of recipients to be published next week.
Beckham played 115 times for his country as well as for Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, Paris St-Germain and AC Milan, retiring in 2013.
Beckham was reportedly first nominated for a knighthood in 2011.
In 2017 several British newspapers printed details of leaked emails in which Beckham allegedly criticised the honours system and the honours committee.
A spokesperson for Beckham said at the time that the emails were “hacked”, “doctored” and “private”.
The former footballer married singer and fashion designer Victoria Beckham in 1999.
The couple share four children – Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper Seven.
Beckham played a key role in securing the London 2012 Olympics, and has been an ambassador for Unicef since 2005.
Unicef – which supports vulnerable children around the world – launched ‘The David Beckham Unicef Fund’ in 2015 to mark a decade’s partnership between the two.
Beckham became an ambassador for The King’s Foundation in 2024, supporting King Charles’ education programme and efforts to ensure young people have a greater understanding of nature.
He is also part-owner of League Two side Salford City, as well as president and co-owner of Major League Soccer team Inter Miami in the United States.
He helped set-up the Inter Miami CF Foundation – a community driven not-for-profit enterprise that looks to empower underserved communities, using football as a catalyst.
A Government spokesperson said: “We do not comment on speculation on honours.”
Anthony Bourdain wasn’t shy about food. He’d eat anything while globe-hopping for his TV shows — including the simple Waffle House fare that made Bourdain fall for the iconic chain. But one thing the late celebrity chef couldn’t get behind was airplane food.
Bourdain never ate while flying, once telling Bon Appétit, “No one has ever felt better after eating plane food.” He claimed that he liked to be hungry when he arrived at his destination, and theorized that travelers just eat it because they’re bored. If he was on a really long flight, Bourdain would just ask for cheese and a lot of port wine.
Why is airplane food so decidedly average at best? Part of it is that hot food is cooked hours earlier by contracted catering companies, then just rewarmed in a convection oven on the plane. But another factor is that food and drinks just don’t taste the same at 30,000 feet. The dryness and low air pressure in the cabin throws off our ability to taste properly, reducing taste buds’ sensitivity by some 30%. It’s partly due to the nasal passages drying out, which interferes with our sense of smell. Even the engine noise plays a role. It’s been found to reduce how well we taste food, but interestingly enhances the ability to taste umami flavor. It’s suggested that this is why so many people order tomato juice and bloody marys on flights.
Making airline food taste better

Airlines have been working to improve food service, implementing menus from celebrity chefs, as well as more food and beverages to choose from. Many companies also make adjustments to counteract how fliers’ taste is affected, by using more salt and sugar, along with spices and sauces. Passengers might also see the incorporation of umami flavor with ingredients like mushrooms and soy sauce.
The downside is that most of these improvements are for those flying in business class and first class. When economy fliers do get hot meals on long or international flights, the quality of the food can vary significantly by airline. For instance, meals on U.S. airlines tend to be less appetizing than those on foreign carriers.
But a couple of tips can help make airline food taste better. Drink water to stay hydrated and protect yourself against the drying effects of the cabin air. Wear noise-canceling headphones to block out the taste-dampening sound of the engine. And bring your own food so you’ll be eating something you like, even if the taste is subdued — just avoid anything strong-smelling like fish or pungent cheese. Anthony Bourdain found this out the hard way when he got nasty looks from other fliers for something that actually smelled too good — takeout from Bourdain’s beloved barbecue spot, Joe’s Kansas City BBQ. He told Bon Appétit, “If you want to be the most despised person in the cabin, bring some good barbecue on and have everybody [on] the plane smell it.”
Emily Ratajkowski stuns in the latest Gucci campaign, shot by Daniel Arnold. When I say she’s decked out in Gucci, she’s really decked out in the iconic GG monogram.
The campaign was shot in beautiful Cannes, and Ratajkowski is seen throughout the city wearing Gucci pieces, including the coveted new Gucci Giglio handbag, which debuted during the cruise 2026 fashion show in Florence. The campaign also introduces a new chapter of the Ophidia collection, featuring inspiration from silhouettes from the late 1970s. The new Mini GG bag in a small duffle silhouette is particularly noteworthy and is available for preorder online and in-store. It’s sure to be a favorite of the season.

The answers to today’s Connections, game #727, are…
YELLOW: TIPS FOR WORKING OUT SAFELY BREATHE, HYDRATE, REST, STRETCH
GREEN: ESTABLISH FOUND, INSTITUTE, LAUNCH, START
BLUE: DITTY AIR, NUMBER, SONG, STRAIN

My rating: moderate
My score: 1 mistake
I have an issue with people who REST at the gym, as included in today’s TIPS FOR WORKING OUT SAFELY group. I sincerely hope that Connections is not advocating this activity, or should I say lack of activity.
The annoying thing about it is that someone resting at a gym is usually doing so while simultaneously hogging a machine or station while they rest, check their phone or generally zone out.
I am not in favor of horns in cars – they are used out of anger rather than to alert other road users of dangers – but I am in favor of them in gyms. In particular, to be blasted in people’s faces when they are resting too much. As you can no doubt tell, my gym routine is to go there, do the things I have to do and then leave.
I really wanted to leave Connections today after struggling to complete it. I am delighted to have solved SPRING___, but I found every group tricky, including ESTABLISH – which is where my mistake came, in thinking that it was about ways to start something so I had LAUNCH, SPRING, START and FLING. It made sense at the time. Right, I’m off for some rest.
How did you do today? Let me know in the comments below.

What is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games made by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four items that share something in common, and each group has a different difficulty level: green is easy, yellow a little harder, blue often quite tough and purple usually very difficult.
On the plus side, you don’t technically need to solve the final one, as you’ll be able to answer that one by a process of elimination. What’s more, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you a little bit of breathing room.
It’s a little more involved than something like Wordle, however, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to trip you up with tricks. For instance, watch out for homophones and other word games that could disguise the answers.
It’s playable for free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
Olympian Ryan Lochte Speaks Out on Wife Kayla Reid Filing for Divorce After 7 Years
Ryan Lochte and Kayla Reid are swimming in different directions.
Indeed, the real estate agent confirmed over social media that she filed for divorce from the Olympic swimmer after seven years of marriage.
“Earlier this year, I made the hard decision to end my marriage after deep prayer and reflection,” Kayla—who shares kids Caiden, 7, Liv, 6, and Georgia, 23 months, with the athlete—wrote in a June 4 Instagram post. “I hold marriage in the highest regard, so this has been one of the most painful, revealing, and challenging seasons of my life. I’ve been hesitant to share until I could do so from a place of healing—not from fresh, open wounds.”
And while court records, obtained by People, show that Kayla filed for divorce on March 26, she went on to detail why she ultimately made the decision.
“Sometimes we face trials we didn’t choose or see coming,” she explained on social media. “And in those moments, we’re forced to make the hardest decisions to protect our peace, our children, and our future. I’ve come to the understanding that staying isn’t always the most loving decision someone can make.”
“Cho Young-gun threw with a fighting spirit right after he was hit by the ball. This image reminded the entire squad of their commitment to victory.”
Kiwoom Heroes head coach Hong Won-ki, who won three consecutive games with a thrilling walk-off victory, applauded Cho Young-gun.
Kiwoom, led by head coach Hong, defeated manager Yeom Kyung-yeop’s LG Twins 2-1 in the home game of the 2025 professional baseball KBO League at Gocheok Sky Dome in Guro-gu, Seoul on the 6th. Kiwoom, which won three consecutive games, recorded 19 wins, 1 draw, and 45 losses.

The result was victory, but the process was not easy. Kiwoom was dragged 0-1 by LG until the top of the eighth inning.
But I didn’t lose my concentration. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Lee Ju-hyung scored a superior tying solo shot (season No. 7) with a distance of 120m.
Kiwoom, who entered the extension afterwards, faced bad news in the top of the 10th inning. Right-hander Cho Young-gun, who was on the mound, was hit in the ankle by Austin Dean’s training ball. In this situation, Cho Young-gun showed his fighting spirit. I came out with a pressure bandage and blocked the inning scoreless.
Was it because of Cho Young-gun’s fighting spirit. Kiwoom was able to face a precious victory in the bottom of the 10th inning with Song Sung-moon’s 130-meter superior driving distance solo arch (season No. 10).

Kiwoom starter Kenny Rosenberg couldn’t throw many balls because he felt uncomfortable with his left hip joint, but he stopped five innings with three hits, three strikeouts, and one run. Lee Joon-woo (1 scoreless inning), Lee Kang-joon (1 scoreless inning), Joo Seung-woo (1 scoreless inning), Won Jong-hyun (1 scoreless inning), and Cho Young-gun (win, 1 scoreless inning) kept the mound, and the victory went to Cho Young-gun. It is his first win of the season (three losses). Song Sung-moon (2 hits in 4 at-bats, one home run and one RBI), the main character of the winning shot, shone in the lineup. In addition, Lee Ju-hyung (1 hit, 1 home run, and 1 RBI in 2 at-bats) who fired an equalizer also supported him firmly.
After the game, head coach Hong Won-ki said, “Rosenberg came down from the mound early due to pelvic discomfort, but he pitched perfectly until the fifth inning,” adding, “All the bullpen that followed were responsible for their innings with all their might.” In particular, Cho Young-gun threw with a fighting spirit immediately after being hit by the ball. This image reminded the entire team of their will to win again,” he said with a thumbs-up.
Coach Hong said, “Lee Joo-hyung’s tie home run served as an opportunity for the team to unite without giving up until the end. He then left the ground saying, “Song Sung-moon’s come-from-behind home run allowed me to win a valuable victory.”
Meanwhile, Kiwoom, which is trying to secure four consecutive wins and three consecutive winning series through the game on the 7th, will have right-hander Raul Alcantara (1 win, ERA 0.00) as the starting pitcher. In response, LG predicted right-hander Lim Chan-kyu (8-1, 2.63 ERA).

This morning, the front associated with yesterday’s thunderstorm activity stalled near the I-70 corridor with a humid and warm air mass in place in its vicinity.
WEATHER LINKS:
Current Conditions | School Closings & Delays | Submit Your Weather Photos
With light winds in place and high levels of humidity near the ground, this has resulted in the development of patchy fog.
High temperatures and rain chances today in Western Pennsylvania
KDKA Weather Center
The fog is generally thickest near and northwest of the Pittsburgh metro and will be in place through the next few hours. Some scattered showers are ongoing across Ohio and will move from west to east through sunrise and into the mid-morning hours. As low-level heating commences, this will allow instability to build up, resulting in a transition from showers to scattered and even numerous thunderstorms developing by 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and lasting through the evening hours.
Similar to yesterday, wind shear values aren’t too high, but just enough to allow for pulse storms that could produce localized microbursts of wind up to 60mph, very heavy rain, and at most quarter-sized hail.
Severe weather threats on Friday afternoon into the evening
KDKA Weather Center
The bulk of the storm activity will shift south toward I-70 and I-68 during the late evening and overnight hours of Saturday. After a few morning showers, most of Saturday into Saturday night is trending drier as we will be in between systems with high pressure to the north.
On Sunday, moisture will return north ahead of another disturbance. It is likely that showers and numerous thunderstorms will move in during the midday to afternoon hours with this system. An isolated severe storm cannot be ruled out, especially south of Pittsburgh toward the I-70 and I-68 corridors.
Following Sunday’s system, a more potent upper-level storm system will move in on Monday into Monday evening. This system will have much stronger winds aloft and be accompanied by sufficient moisture and some instability, so we will need to keep an eye on a potentially higher severe weather threat with this system.
Lingering showers and storms will continue on Tuesday, before a cold front moves in, resulting in drier conditions by the following Wednesday through the end of next week.
