Thunder center Isaiah Hartenstein’s ‘desperation’ take before Game 6 vs Pacers

0

The post Thunder center Isaiah Hartenstein’s ‘desperation’ take before Game 6 vs Pacers appeared first on ClutchPoints.

INDIANAPOLIS — While Oklahoma City Thunder center Isaiah Hartenstein knows the Indiana Pacers will be fighting to keep their season alive in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, he can almost taste the champagne and smell the cigar smoke. The champagne bottles will be on ice, accompanied by boxes of cigars at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, awaiting the Thunder to clinch their first championship in franchise history. Hartenstein’s traveled a long road to reach this point.

It’s a journey Hartenstein shares with many of his Thunder teammates in his first season with Oklahoma City. Hartenstein believes the Thunder, with a 3-2 lead in the Finals’ best-of-7, have to play with a level of desperation that surpasses the Pacers’ approach in Game 6.

“It’s the first to four. So, we’re not going to come in acting like everything is sealed, everything’s done,” Hartenstein said. “They’re gonna come out with desperation. They’re a great team, and we’re gonna come out with the same, probably even more, desperation. That’s where we’re at,” Hartenstein said. “We’re not looking too far ahead. Mark does a great job of not focusing too much on the outside. Not focusing too much on if we win one game, we’re going to win a championship.

“We’re really focused on let’s play this Game 6. Let’s go through the ups and downs through the Game 6, but then also, just establish it early, and come out with an emphasis,” Hartenstein concluded.

The notion that the Larry O’Brien trophy and everything that comes with it — commemorative Thunder championship t-shirts, cigars, and champagne will be in the building at Gainsbridge Fieldhouse —  should yield a desperate approach. Couple that with the possibility of hosting a Game 7, where anything can happen, back in Oklahoma City, and you’d understand why it’s imperative for the Thunder to close out the Pacers on the road in Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

Before Thunder center Isaiah Hartenstein inked a three-year, $87 million deal, he was fighting to stay in the NBA. It’s a background many of his teammates can relate to, which Hartenstein addressed before practice for Game 6.

“We’ve all been through certain obstacles in our careers. I think we’re very mature for our ages because we’ve been through that adversity,” Hartenstein said. “I also think Sam [Presti] and Mark [Daigneault] did a great job of just establishing a culture where you can thrive in situations.”

Now, the Thunder are on the cusp of capturing their first championship in franchise history.

Caitlin Clark’s ex-coach calls for WNBA rule changes

0

Caitlin Clark was at the center of the WNBA conversation again after the fracas between the Fever and Sun on Tuesday night that saw the second-year guard get knocked to the court.

One of Clark’s former coaches believes that for the WNBA to make any substantive changes to the physical nature of play, there would need to be significant tweaks to the way games are called by officials.

Former Iowa coach Lisa Bluder, who led Clark for four seasons with the Hawkeyes, believes that would mean calling more fouls.

“I think there needs to be more freedom of movement in our game,” she told TMZ on Thursday. “Which means, yes, calling more fouls, which people don’t like, but people will adjust. The players will adjust.

“If we start calling more fouls and emphasize the rules, the players will adjust, because they want to be on the floor.”

Bluder emphasized to the outlet that she didn’t think Clark was being “targeted,” but teams were playing more physically against her because it’s the best way to defend the Fever star.

On Tuesday, Clark was poked in the eye by the Sun’s Jacy Sheldon before the two got physical after the whistle.

Clark gave Sheldon a shove, causing Connecticut’s Tina Charles and Marina Mabrey to step in, with the latter shoving Clark to the ground.

After things were sorted out, Clark, Charles and Mabrey all received technical fouls, while Sheldon — who was later ejected from the game in a separate scuffle with the Fever’s Sophie Cunningham — was hit with a flagrant 1.

Mabrey, upon league review, saw the foul get upgraded to a flagrant 2, and she was also fined.

Following the game, Fever head coach Stephanie White called out the officials for not getting a handle on what became a tense game.

“When the officials don’t get control of the ballgame, when they allow stuff to happen, and it’s been happening all season long … this is what happens,” White said. “You’ve got competitive women, who are the best in the world at what they do, right? And when you allow them to play physical, and you allow these things to happen, they’re going to compete, and they’re going to have their teammates’ backs.”

‘Squid Game’ Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk Teases ‘Possibility’ of a Spinoff (Exclusive)

0

NEED TO KNOW

  • Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk told PEOPLE there’s a “possibility” for a spinoff of the hit Netflix series
  • While he said there are no additional details at the moment for “when and how” it happens, he said “there is a chance”
  • Squid Game returns for its third and final season on June 27

The Squid Game universe could be expanding.

Hwang Dong-hyuk — the South Korean creator and writer-director of the hit Netflix series — spoke to PEOPLE exclusively at the season 3 premiere on Wednesday, June 18, at The Plaza Hotel in New York City, where he teased that there’s “possibility” of a spinoff.

“I cannot just tell right now when and how it’s going to happen,” he said. “But there is a chance.”

Hwang’s tease comes as Squid Game is set to return for its third and final season on June 27.

Season 3 is set to pick up right where the previous season left off, with Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) — a.k.a. Player 456 — licking his wounds after he and some of his fellow contestants attempted an ill-fated rebellion against those running the Squid Game competition.

The story left off with the players’ revolt failing, Hwang In-ho (Lee Byung-hun) revealing himself as The Front Man and the murder of Park Jung-bae (Lee Seo-hwan) right in front of Gi-hun.

“The third and final season of Squid Game follows Gi-hun after losing his best friend in the game and being driven to utter despair by The Front Man, who was hiding his true identity to infiltrate the game,” the official season 3 synopsis reads.

The synopsis continues, “Gi-hun persists with his goal to put an end to the game, while the Front Man continues onto his next move and the surviving players’ choices will lead to graver consequences with each round.”

Netflix dropped an official trailer for the final season during their live Tudum 2025 event in May.

“Why didn’t you kill me? Why did you keep me alive? Why did you let me live?” Gi-hun screams in the clip as he’s restrained.

We also see the surviving players forced to finish out the Squid Game — including a twisted and deadly round of jump rope — that they were participating in before the rebellion.

The trailer ends with Gi-hun being escorted to the control room to come face to face with The Front Man once again.

“Player 456, do you still have faith in people?” The Front Man asks Gi-hun as it comes to a close.

Squid Game season 3 streams June 27 on Netflix.

Electric Dough Pizza Co. has opened in the former San Marco Theatre space. Take a tour inside

0

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A new pizza spot opened on Wednesday at the site of the former San Marco Theatre.

The restaurant, at 1996 San Marco Blvd. in San Marco Square, serves a pizza creation developed by chef/owner Tom Gray. It combines Roman-style dough, Detroit-inspired preparation and presentation with an electric pizza oven that offers more top and bottom temperature control.

Detroit-style pizza is made in rectangular trays and features little crust. (Copyright 2025 by WJXT News4JAX – All rights reserved.)

Gray also owns and operates Prati Italia at 4972 Big Island Drive in the Markets at Town Center and Town Hall at 2012 San Marco Blvd.

The restaurant is 4,200 square feet and can seat 120 to 130 customers, depending on outside seating availability.

It was designed by Atlanta-based architectural design firm ai3 and was built by Urban Partners Construction of Jacksonville.

Gray partnered with Pam Smith and Cliff Pleau of Shaping America’s Plate. Smith specializes in using freshly harvested ingredients to develop her recipes. She is a registered dietician nutritionist.

The Roman dough is fermented for 30 hours. While the crust looks thick, it is light and crunchy rather than doughy and cake-like.

The interior of the theater built in 1938 is unrecognizable, but tributes to the building’s past are intentional. Above the open kitchen and beside the bottle display in the bar area, the accent molding looks as if it could be a curtain that would have framed the movie screen.

The exposed brick throughout is original and hasn’t been seen since the building was constructed. Silent movies will be shown against the wall opposite the kitchen.

Customers are greeted at the door by the original film projector, which has been given a place of honor.

Spectrum service in Los Angeles fully restored after ‘criminal act of vandalism’

A “criminal act of vandalism” on Spectrum fiber optic lines over the weekend led to a service outage in parts of L.A. on Sunday, but the company says that service has now been fully restored.

“Early this morning our fiber optic lines were intentionally cut in Los Angeles due to vandalism,” the internet and cable provider said in a statement on Sunday. The statement did not specify how many customers were affected by the outage, only disclosing that it affected “some residents and businesses.”

The fiber lines were cut in multiple places in Van Nuys.

In another statement issued to KTLA, a spokesperson confirmed that services were restored on Monday morning.

“We brought in extra crews to get the repairs done as quickly as possible and finished restoring services this morning,” the spokesperson said. “We thank our customers who were affected for their patience, and we are providing them a full day of credit.”

The company is offering a $25,000 reward for any person who provides credible information leading directly to the arrest and conviction of any individual or individuals involved in theft or vandalism of the Spectrum network.

Spectrum also added that “criminal acts of network vandalism” have become increasingly common within the entire telecommunications industry, mostly because of the price increase for precious metals. That said, Spectrum officials say their fiber lines do not have copper, which is what most metal thieves are after.

Ethereum (ETH) on the Cusp of a Bullish ‘Golden Cross’ Technical Pattern

0

Traders and investors are closely watching Ethereum (ETH) after the second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization formed a bullish “Golden Cross” technical pattern.

Confident Investing Starts Here:

Ethereum is currently trading at $2,500 but appears poised for a breakout and run back near $3,000 after forming a Golden Cross. A Golden Cross is a bullish signal that occurs when a security’s 50-day moving average rises above the 200-day moving average.

A Golden Cross has historically preceded significant upward trends in cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum. Chart analysts also note that there has been strong volume support around ETH in the past 24 hours, further making the case for a price breakout.

Recovery Pattern

Current charts show that Ethereum is now forming what looks to be a V-shaped recovery pattern, establishing critical short-term support. Despite the current positive trends and momentum, Ethereum’s price has declined this year. So far in 2025, ETH has fallen 25%.

Recently, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved the trading of options tied to spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Options are a popular trading vehicle to leverage and hedge risk and are highly prized by large institutional investors who are looking to control large blocks of shares.

Is ETH a Buy?

Most Wall Street analysts don’t offer price targets on Ethereum, so instead we’ll look at the cryptocurrency’s three-month performance. As one can see in the chart below, the price of ETH has gained 27.61% over the last 12 weeks.

JFK Jr.’s Nephew Jack Schlossberg Calls Ryan Murphy’s Upcoming Series ‘Grotesque’

0

NEED TO KNOW

  • A member of the Kennedy family has spoken out about the upcoming ‘American Love Story’ series, which focuses on the tragic love story of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette
  • Jack Schlossberg, JFK Jr.’s nephew, criticized the show for depicting his famous uncle and aunt without any input from his family
  • Schlossberg noted that his uncle was a “public figure,” however, he said he doesn’t appreciate the show “profiting off of it in a grotesque way”

One member of the Kennedy family isn’t thrilled about an upcoming TV series that focuses on the real-life love story between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette.

American Love Story, the latest in producer Ryan Murphy’s anthology saga, will spotlight the whirlwind romance and tragic deaths of JFK Jr. — son of President John F. Kennedy and first lady Jackie Kennedy — and Bessette, a fashion publicist. Hollywood newcomer Paul Kelly plays the famous first son, alongside The Wilds star Sarah Pidgeon as his bride.

The couple met in 1992 and wed in September 1996. Less than three years later, they died in a plane crash as JFK Jr. was flying his wife and her sister, Lauren, over a thick fog in Martha’s Vineyard. He was 38 and she was 33.

This week, first-look photos from the series showed Kelly and Pidgeon in costume as the buzzworthy couple, which inspired JFK Jr.’s nephew, Jack Schlossberg, to speak out on social media.

“Lately, my news feed has been filled with pictures of my uncle, John F. Kennedy Jr., a great man,” Schlossberg said in a video posted to his Instagram Stories Thursday, June 19. “For those wondering whether his family was ever consulted, or has anything to do with, the new shows being made about him, the answer is no. And there’s really not much we can do.”

The 32-year-old son of JFK Jr.’s sister, Caroline Kennedy, explained, “The right to privacy, which includes the ability to control your own name, image and likeness, doesn’t survive death in the state of New York. For that matter, he’s considered a public figure, so there’s not much we can do.”

“I hope those making these shows about him take seriously what he stood for in his life, all that he achieved in it. And that they donate some of the profits [that] they’re making,” Schlossberg continued.

“For the record, I think admiration for my Uncle John is great. What I don’t think is great is profiting off of it in a grotesque way,” he noted.

PEOPLE reached out to Murphy’s reps regarding Schlossberg’s claims; they had no comment.

However, the producer did respond to viral criticism about Pidgeon’s look as Bessette in camera test photos released earlier this week. Critics dissected everything from her hair color to the type of Birkin bag the actress was holding in the shots.

“Carolyn Bessette is clearly a religious figure and it’s a religion of her own,” Murphy told Variety. “It’s very interesting that people become so inflammatory.”

However, he pointed out that the public microscope the photos were immediately put under likely paralleled the one Bessette experienced in real life.

“We’re writing a story about a person — an unknown person — who falls in love with the most famous man in the world and suddenly she can’t leave her house,” Murphy noted. “They’re doing to our Carolyn, what they did to the real-life Carolyn. It’s not fair.”

In addition to Kelly and Pidgeon, American Love Story will star Naomi Watts as Jackie Kennedy, Grace Gummer as Caroline Kennedy, Sydney Lemmon as Lauren Bessette and Alessandro Nivola as Calvin Klein.

American Love Story is the latest in Murphy’s American Story anthology series, following American Horror Story, American Crime Story and American Sports Story. A release date for the series has yet to be announced.
