While Hoa initially did not name the manufacturer, documents released at the shareholder meeting confirmed that the Vietnamese flag carrier had finalized negotiations and signed a deal with Boeing to acquire 50 Boeing 737-8 aircraft.

The project was approved at an extraordinary shareholder meeting held in mid-May, with a total investment of approximately US$3.6 billion (VND92.4 trillion), including 10 spare engines.

As per the delivery timeline, the national carrier will receive 14 aircraft by 2030, followed by 18 more in both 2031 and 2032.

Hoa said that although the carrier had hoped for an earlier delivery, this schedule is acceptable under current global conditions.

In addition to its narrow-body fleet expansion, Vietnam Airlines is also planning to upgrade and grow its wide-body aircraft fleet, currently comprising 31 Boeing 787s and Airbus A350s.

The airline anticipates needing at least 50 wide-body jets by 2035, including 20 for lease replacement and 30 for expanding international routes.

Aside from offering passenger services, the carrier is intensifying its cargo operations.

It plans to deploy dedicated freighters and invest in logistics hubs at Long Thanh International Airport in southern Dong Nai Province and potentially at Gia Binh Airport in northern Bac Ninh Province.

Vietnam Airlines reported its strongest financial performance ever in 2024, with consolidated revenue of VND112.8 trillion ($4.3 billion) and an after-tax profit of VND7.96 trillion ($305 million).

The airline targets carrying 25.4 million passengers and 346,000 metric tons of cargo in 2025, up 11.6 percent and 11.5 percent year on year, respectively.

It also looks to earn VND116.7 trillion ($4.5 billion) in consolidated revenue this year, improving 3.5 percent against the 2024 figure.

Vietnam Airlines’ network has fully recovered after the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the first half of 2025, the airline launched five new international routes to Beijing, Bangkok, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Busan.

It also resumed services on four key routes to Moscow, Bali, Kuala Lumpur, and Hong Kong.

Two more long-haul routes linking Vietnam with Milan and Copenhagen will commence in July and December, respectively.

Jan 13, 2025; Melbourne, Victoria, Australia; Tommy Paul of United States of America gestures during his match against Christopher O’Connell of Australia in the first round of the men’s singles at the 2025 Australian Open at Melbourne Park.

No. 2 seed Tommy Paul features in his first tournament since Roland Garros, as he battles home favourite Dan Evans at the 2025 ATP Lexus Eastbourne Open on Wednesday. This Round of 16 tie will be the third meeting between these two stars. Paul will be looking to capture his first title at the British town, having finished as the runner-up here in 2023.

World No. 13 Tommy Paul was beaten by Argentine Francisco Cerundolo in the Eastbourne International final two years ago. The American is enjoying a high moment in his career of late. However, he is yet to pick up a title in 2025 – and turns to Eastbourne for a change in fortune. The 28-year-old comes into this match with a 25-9 record this year – including semifinal runs in Adelaide, Dallas, Houston and Rome.

A former Top-25 player and a proven match winner, Dan Evans has dropped to No. 170 in the ATP Rankings. The British veteran is one of the ‘last of the Mohicans’ and continues to dazzle at the age of 35. Mostly taking part in ATP Challengers, he has struggled to get past the qualifiers in most events. Evans produced a phenomenal display against Kecmanovic in the Round of 32 to improve his 2025 record to 3-3 and book his place in Wednesday’s marquee clash.

Tommy Paul vs Dan Evans Head to Head Record

The head-to-head between Tommy Paul and Dan Evans currently stands at 1-1. This will be their first meeting since 2022, when both matches took place.

Paul and Evans have faced each other twice on hard courts. The first of these was at the Canada Masters in Toronto, where the Brit made a comeback after getting dragged through the mud in the opening set. However, Paul drew level in this duel when he helped Team USA earn a point in the Davis Cup by beating his lower ranked opponent. Interestingly, there has never been a straight sets finish when these two stars have faced one another.

Over time, the American has crafted a potent grass court game for himself. He has reached two finals on this surface, including a title charge at Queen’s Club last year. Paul will make full use of the tired legs of Evans that had to endure a three set battle on Monday. With an 85% service game win percentage and 50% break point conversion rate on grass, Tommy Paul is the firm favourite.

Prediction: Tommy Paul in straight sets.

Rickie Fowler Looking for More Magic at Rocket Classic – PGA News

June 25, 2025

Rickie Fowler finished T36 at the Travelers Championship, but his performance was better than the result suggests, as one rough stretch on Friday (seven over through seven holes) skewed his overall showing in an otherwise solid week. Prior to this, he had posted three top-16 finishes in his previous four starts and will look to carry that momentum into the Rocket Classic. Fowler won this event in dramatic fashion in 2023, defeating Adam Hadwin and Collin Morikawa in a playoff. Detroit Golf Club rewards tee-to-green performance and driving distance, areas where Fowler has been average this season. He ranks 95th in strokes gained from tee to green (plus-0.001 per round), 126th in approach (minus-0.031), and 74th in driving distance. He’s also 94th in both putting (plus-0.013) and birdie-or-better percentage (30.90%). At $8,700 on DraftKings, Fowler will likely be a popular play this week due to his strong course history and upward trajectory in recent form.Dakota Legg – RotoBaller

Daniel Park death: Alleged co-conspirator in Palm Springs fertility clinic explosion dies in federal custody in Los Angeles

0

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KABC) — A Washington state man accused of providing large amounts of chemicals to make explosives for last month’s bombing of a fertility clinic in Palm Springs has died in federal custody, the U. S. Department of Justice confirmed.

Daniel Park, 32, was taken into custody earlier this month at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport after being deported from Poland, where he’d traveled four days after the bombing, U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli announced. He was facing charges of conspiracy.

According to a statement from the U. S. Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons, Park was found unresponsive at approximately 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles.

“Responding employees initiated life-saving measures. Emergency medical services (EMS) were requested while life-saving efforts continued,” the statement said. “Mr. Park was transported by EMS to a local hospital and subsequently pronounced deceased by hospital personnel.”

Further details about the manner in which Park died were not immediately shared.

No employees or other incarcerated individuals were injured, and at no time was the public in danger, the statement said.

Federal authorities allege Park shipped 180 pounds of ammonium nitrate to Guy Edward Bartkus, 25, who bombed the clinic and was killed in the blast. The chemical compound is an explosive precursor that can be used to make homemade bombs, Essayli said.

Park allegedly also spent two weeks visiting Bartkus in late January and February, conducting experiments in bomb-making.

The suspect’s father, Richard Bartkus, told the New York Times he and his son were estranged. He said as a teen, his son would make smoke bombs.

Park and Bartkus met in online forums dedicated to the anti-natalist movement, bonding over a “shared belief that people shouldn’t exist,” said Akil Davis, the FBI’s assistant director in charge.

Anti-natalism is a fringe theory that opposes childbirth and population growth and believes people should not continue to procreate. Officials said Bartkus intentionally targeted the fertility clinic as an act of terrorism. He tried to livestream the explosion, but the attempt failed, the FBI says.

The blast gutted the American Reproductive Centers fertility clinic in Palm Springs and shattered the windows of nearby buildings along a palm tree-lined street. Witnesses described a loud boom followed by a chaotic scene, with people screaming in terror and glass strewn along the sidewalk and street. Remains later identified as Bartkus were found near a charred vehicle outside the clinic.

Investigators haven’t said if Bartkus intended to kill himself in the attack or why he chose the specific facility. The clinic provides services to help people get pregnant, including in vitro fertilization and fertility evaluations.

Authorities executed a search warrant at Park’s residence in Seattle and found “an explosive recipe that was similar to the Oklahoma City bombing,” Davis said.

Scott Sweetow, a retired ATF explosives expert, had previously said the amount of damage caused indicated that the suspect used a “high explosive” similar to dynamite and TNT rather than a “low explosive” like gun powder.

Those types of explosives are normally difficult for civilians to access, but increasingly people are finding ways to concoct explosives at home, he said.

“Once you know the chemistry involved, it’s pretty easy to get stuff,” Sweetow said. “The ingredients you could get at a grocery store.”

Davis previously called the explosion possibly the “largest bombing scene that we’ve had in Southern California.”

Palm Springs bomb accomplice suspect dies in federal custody

0

A Washington state man facing terrorism charges related to the bombing of a fertility clinic in Palm Springs has died inside a federal detention facility in Los Angeles, officials said.

Daniel Park, 32, was found unresponsive in his cell at the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, officials said.

“Responding employees initiated life-saving measures, emergency medical services were requested while life-saving measures continued,” according to a statement from the Department of Justice. “Mr. Park was transported by EMS to a local hospital and subsequently pronounced deceased by hospital personnel.”

No one else was injured and no further details on the cause of death were immediately available.

Park had been in federal custody since his arrest at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York this month and was charged with providing and attempting to provide material support to a terrorist.

He was accused of helping Guy Edward Bartkus secure 270 pounds of ammonium nitrate, an explosive precursor that can be used to construct homemade bombs.

A DMV photo of Daniel Park.

(FBI)

Bartkus, 25, is suspected of detonating a bomb at American Reproductive Centers on May 17, killing himself and injuring four people. The blast created a debris field across 250 yards.

Days after the bombing, authorities say, Park left the U.S. for Europe. Polish law enforcement eventually detained him and deported him back to the United States, where he was taken into custody upon arriving in New York. When Park was confronted by Polish authorities, he attempted to harm himself, according to an FBI affidavit. Park made his initial appearance in federal court in Brooklyn before being transferred to Los Angeles.

Park was accused of shipping about180 pounds of ammonium nitrate in January and later paying for an additional 90 pounds of the chemical to be shipped to Bartkus in the days leading up to the Palm Springs attack.

U.S. Atty. Bill Essayli, the top federal prosecutor in Los Angeles, said Park spent two weeks visiting Bartkus in Twentynine Palms in late January and early February. Three days before Park arrived at his house, according to a federal criminal complaint, Bartkus researched how to make powerful explosions using ammonium nitrate and fuel.

Bartkus and Park allegedly ran experiments together in Bartkus’ garage, from which the FBI recovered large quantities of chemical precursors and lab equipment after the bombing.

According to FBI Assistant Director for Los Angeles Akil Davis, Park had a similar ideology to Bartkus and posted about these ideologies on internet forums dating to 2016.

FBI case investigators, as well as law enforcement sources, characterize Bartkus as having “antinatalist” ideations.

In public posts online, he argued that procreation without the consent of the unborn is unethical and unjustifiable in a world struggling with environmental harm, violence and overpopulation.

“Park’s social media posts indicate that he was attempting to recruit others of like-minded ideology,” Davis said. He added that the alleged partnership between Park and Bartkus was one of “equal, mutual like-minded individuals finding themselves on the internet in these chat forums.”

“They don’t believe people should exist,” Davis said.

Search warrants conducted at Park’s residence in Kent, Wash., in the wake of the bombing led agents to identify his role in the explosion, according to Davis.

Davis said six packages of ammonium nitrate were shipped from Park in Seattle to Bartkus. He said officials are awaiting the results of an analysis of the explosive precursor chemicals shipped from Park.

The FBI described the Palm Springs blast — powerful enough to damage buildings several blocks away — as “probably the largest bombing scene that we’ve had in Southern California,” eclipsing the 2018 bombing of a day spa in Aliso Viejo.

Law enforcement sources previously told The Times that the bomber used such a large amount of explosives that the bomb shredded his remains.

The law enforcement sources said that authorities recovered explosive materials from Bartkus’ home and that he was skilled in assembling explosive devices. He also was a longtime rocket builder.

The online trail that authorities have been scouring to glean some insight into Bartkus’ motives includes a website dedicated to the Palm Springs bombing. It features a 30-minute recording that site data indicate was uploaded at the time of the explosion, and promises a video — never posted — of the blast. There are also YouTube videos under a web alias associated with Bartkus, and threads on Reddit and a suicide forum.

In those, Bartkus voiced despondence over the death of a “best friend,” Sophie, who lived in Washington and ran multiple social media sites espousing radical feminism, veganism and suicide. She died in April, allegedly shot in the head by her partner. That man told police he was acting at her request.

After the bombing, law enforcement recovered a cellphone that Bartkus had set up to record the bombing, according to an affidavit written by Andrew Bland, a special agent for the FBI. When authorities searched the cellphone, they found an image showing the car parked outside the fertility clinic before the bombing. The image was labeled “Promortalism.”

Bland wrote that Bartkus had posted online “an audio-recorded manifesto, a countdown to the bombing, and a video of the suicide bombing.”

In the manifesto, Bland wrote, Bartkus acknowledged that by bombing the clinic, he was “causing destruction and possibly death.”

Fox News’ Will Cain makes his case for Donald Trump to be added to Mount Rushmore

0

WILL CAIN (HOST): As we speak, President Trump is at dinner in the Netherlands, imploring once again for peace in Ukraine, driving NATO nations to raise their defense spending budgets to meet the minimum threshold, to provide for their own defense. And this after an incredible 24 hours wherein despite doubts, despite two nations hellbent at war he once again brought peace to the Middle East. It is not pom-pom waving nor cheerleading, it is not partisan at this point to say, is this presidency not one that puts itself in company of those who’ve had their faces carved into mountains? At this point is the presidency of Donald Trump on the level of Mount Rushmore?
