It was a lovely move from Manchester United to take the lead.
Noussair Mazraoui, on the right of the back three, powered it forward with a high pass, Bruno Fernandes making a curved run beyond the Lyon defence and latching onto it.
He pinged it horizontally into the penalty area, where Alejandro Garnacho, making a run from right to left, took a fantastic first touch to burst into the box, beyond Jordan Veretout and the static Niakhate, who couldn’t keep up.
Garnacho from the byline, Hojlund dragged marker Mata away with a run towards goal, Garnacho cut it sideways along the six-yard box… where Manuel Ugarte was crashing the box to pass it into the largely unprotected net.
Lovely move.
VAR checked the offside but it was fine!
