The scorching heat continues will continue the rest of the day and into the evening hours. Temps will be running in the middle to upper 90s with the heat index in the 105-110+ degree range. Uncomfortably warm and muggy conditions are expected tonight as lows only fall into the middle 70s. Tomorrow also looks very hot but afternoon showers and t’storms should keep the severe heat somewhat in check. Regardless, this is dangerous heat so make sure you keep a close eye on the elderly, pets, and younger ones. Keep an extra close eye on those you know without air conditioning. Because of the threat for extreme heat today, the CBS 21 First Warning Weather team has declared Tuesday a Weather WARN Day.
Several disturbances will move through the rest of the week as our hot weather pattern breaks down. As a result the threat for showers and t’storms will increase mid to late week. Highs this weekend look to be more tolerable back into the 80s to near 90. Notice the heat index through the period becomes far more tolerable.
